Composting at FoodCycles
At Foodcycles, we put a priority on composting because of the need for healthy soil to grow healthy food. That need is hard to meet, when the reality of urban sprawl is that we are also losing some of the GTA's best farm land to development projects.
We also recognize the flaws of the Green Bin program, such as cross-provincial and cross-state transporting of our food waste to "biodegradable" plastics and other inappropriate materials being accepted in the compost.
To reduce our carbon footprint Foodcycles encourages gardeners, and non-gardeners alike, to keep their food waste closer to home. This way you learn how to transform foodscrapes into a rich and nutritous organic fertilizer, necessary for growing healthy plants; at the same time becoming better advocates in the protection and regeneartion of the land.
